race information.

The easiest way to explain the enduro race format is race down cruise up!

Let’s get into a little detail, whether you are in junior enduro the easy or hard course you will have a certain amount of time to complete all the stages and get back to the event HQ. You start and finish at the event HQ.

Each rider will need to attach a timing chip to their bike (you get this at registration). The chip collects all of your riding data, which means each time you roll over a timing mat we collect start/finish. We have a start/finish timing mat at the HQ, we also have a timing mat at the top of each stage and the bottom of each stage. All of your timing information is collected on your timing chip.

Lets say you are in the easy course and there are 6 stages (there may be more, let’s just say for the purposes of this example). You get to stage 1, as soon as you roll over the start timing mat you are being timed, the timing finishes as soon as you roll over the finish mat on that stage. That is stage 1 complete, lets call that a time stamp. Once you have done all 6 stages we add up all of your time stamps, the person with the least amount of time did the course the quickest and would win their race category.

You do not get timed transitioning from the end of stage 1 to stage 3 or 4 or whatever order you decided to do the course in.

The timing chips we use are live and automatically upload to an app, so you or anyone following you (like mum or dad or your friends) can track how you are going. We are working with the team from Onetime click here for timing information

That’s why we say race down and cruise up.

What happens if it rains?
You will get wet, unfortunately, we cannot influence the weather. So if it rains, it rains. You’ll undoubtedly get a bit wet, muddy and have even more fun battling the elements! If the rain is combined with high winds and it is a risk, we will not race or hold the race off until the weather passes; the event Director will make a call on the day.

If we have a lot of bad weather leading up to the race, and there is potential to damage the trailsm we will reduce the number of stages in the race, to a minimum of 2 stages

What happens in an incidence of extreme high winds or fire?
Suppose extremely high winds impact our ability to race or a neighbouring forest fire is a blaze. In that case, the Race Director will decide on race morning for everyone’s safety. This decision will be final. Updates will be given to all competitors at the race briefing ahead of the first riders’ scheduled event start on the morning of the race.

What should I do if I come across an injured rider?
If you encounter an injured rider, you must stop and assess if they are o.k. If they are seriously injured ensure oncoming riders can see you and send an on-coming rider down the track to get help from course marshals and the event medical crew. Any time lost helping out a fellow rider will be rewarded with an average place and time from the competitors other results.

What happens if the race is impacted by alert level changes?

We always work to the most fair option. We will make a race deison on the 18 April 2022, if we are clear to race we will forge ahead., if not we will reschedule the race to a new date or postpone to 2024 or push to Feb 2025

What if the event reschedules, and I can't make it to the new race date?

In the first instance, your entry will be automatically transferred to the new date. If you contact our team to let us know that you can't make it to the rescheduled date within 10 days of the announcement, you will have three options:

  • Option 1: 100% refund of entry fee (less applicable fees).

  • Option 2: Rider transfers the entry to a friend. $20 Transfer fee will apply.

  • Option 3: Rider receives a Race credit for entry into 2023 race which is 8-9 Feb 2023.

What happens if the event cancels (indefinitely) as a result of pandemic-related or weather-related challenges?

We plan to do everything we can to ensure the race runs, and rescheduling is our preferred option. But there is a point within the last few days leading into the event where hard costs have accumulated and rescheduling needs to be practicable. In the extremely unlikely event that we are forced to cancel in close proximity to the event due to a change in Alert Level, or unsafe weather then the following refund options will be applied:

a. If the cancellation occurs more than 14 days out from the event:

Option 1: 100% refund of entry fee (less applicable fees).

Option 2: Rider receives a Race credit for entry into 2025 race which is

b. if the cancellation occurs less than 14 days out from the event

Option 1: 50% refund of entry fee (less applicable fees).

Option 2 (only if we are outside of 6 days pre event): Proportional refund based on the accrued cost to manage Capital Enduro.

5. What happens if the event cancels (indefinitely) due to other factors outside of the organiser’s control?

According to the Terms and Conditions on our website and the Consumer Guarantees act, technically, the organiser is not obligated to refund in this situation. However, in this extremely unlikely scenario, our approach would be to calculate the hard costs incurred to date, and issue a proportional refund to riders for the balance (rather than following the letter of the law). Again, our objective would be to avoid this situation and reschedule/postpone if we can reasonably do so.

  6. What exactly are the “applicable fees” referred to above and in the Terms and Conditions?

Applicable fees include credit card / transaction fees, booking fees, and any hard event costs that have been incurred to suppliers/partners by the organiser at the time of cancellation or rescheduling.
